The Penn Parents Council is a group of current undergraduate parents who are committed to preserving and enhancing the quality of the Penn experience. Members seek to inspire support from other Penn parents and families by making annual gifts to The Penn Fund, engaging in personal outreach, hosting and attending regional events, and welcoming new families into the Penn community.

Council meetings take place on Penn’s campus twice a year, in the fall during Family Weekend and the spring. Parents Council members hear updates from University leadership and administrators, learn from acclaimed faculty, and connect with other parents and families.
Parents Council Committees
All Council members are invited to volunteer and provide support by working with one of the following committees:
Philanthropic Engagement Committee
The Philanthropic Engagement Committee is an essential partner of Penn staff members in Development and Alumni Relations. Specifically, committee members coordinate with the Parent & Family Giving staff team to secure other parent support for The Penn Fund, which enhances every aspect of student life and learning.
In particular, Philanthropic Engagement Committee members:
- Partner with the Penn Parent & Family Giving staff team to identify and reach out to parents and families who have an interest in supporting the University.

Build relationships with fellow parents and encourage them to support Penn’s annual funds. Committee members can encourage Penn parents to contribute at the following levels:
- Family Founder (annual unrestricted gift of $10,000 to The Penn Fund)
- Benjamin Franklin Society (annual unrestricted gift of $2,500+)
- Conduct thank you calls to parents and family donors.
Programming & Outreach Committee
The Programming and Outreach Committee partners with the Penn Parent & Family Giving staff team to engage families through events and communications. Some of these activities include:

Welcome Events
Hosting or attending welcome receptions for admitted students and their families. -
Welcome Calls
Reaching out to new families in your region to welcome them to Penn and offer assistance as families orient themselves to the University. -
Regional Events
Hosting regional events featuring faculty or University administrators. These events are wonderful opportunities to engage parents and bring a part of Penn to their city.
