The School is home to the liberal arts—the enduring source of intellectual inquiry, pathbreaking research, and education that emphasizes creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving. We are sustaining and strengthening our dynamic and collaborative faculty and inspiring students to realize their full potential. Our talented community is driving exciting research and learning to address the urgent challenges of our world, applying all the tools of the 21st century to discover answers that tell us about ourselves, our cultures, our history, and our shared future.

Highlighted Priorities

  • Creating endowed professorships to ensure that Penn Arts & Sciences is the academic home of choice for scholars who are leaders in their fields and inspiring teachers in the classroom.
  • Increasing access to education through support for undergraduate scholarships, with the goal that all admitted students can graduate without the burden of insurmountable debt, allowing them to freely explore their passions and take academic risks.
  • Building a home for addressing society’s energy challenges at the Vagelos Laboratory for Energy Science and Technology, where collaborative, innovative research and education will create the path to sustainable energy solutions.
  • Supporting graduate education fuels the next generation of scholars, teachers, and leaders, giving them room to explore the big questions of our day and employ new tools and methodologies to produce cutting-edge discoveries, invigorate our faculty, and sustain Penn’s reputation as a world-class research university.
