School of Veterinary Medicine

On the campus where modern veterinary medicine was born, where today’s specialties first became practice, the School of Veterinary Medicine (Penn Vet) continues to lead the profession.

Our faculty members are world-class educators and clinicians, as well as formidable scientists and researchers who unlock the secrets of infectious disease; investigate new, revolutionary therapeutics translatable to human health; and innovate across the animal husbandry sector. They, in turn, train a new generation of multifunctional veterinarians—grounded in science and public health—who possess the expertise of biomedical scientists and an understanding of the essential, life-saving role of veterinary medicine within a global context.

Highlighted Priorities

  • Increase support for scholarships, which help Penn Vet continue to attract bright, curious, and engaged students. Philanthropy plays a critical role in making an outstanding veterinary education more accessible to students from all backgrounds.
  • Endow professorships that bolster our commitment in recruiting and retaining leading clinicians and scientists, while supporting critical research and clinical centers that empower our faculty to pursue opportunities for scientific collaboration imperative to advancing translational research and novel discovery.
  • Accelerate physical growth across all spectrums of campus spaces that will augment our capacity for next-generation educational, clinical, and research capabilities at both our Philadelphia and Kennett Square, Pennsylvania (New Bolton Center) campus locations.
  • Groundbreaking and translational research accelerates veterinary medicine’s impact on animal, human, and environmental health worldwide. Penn Vet’s research centers and programs, and faculty laboratories, serve as a hub of discovery for scholars, students, and members of Penn’s biomedical community.
