Faculty Support

Talented teachers and scholars power discovery and innovation

The quality of a university is defined by the caliber of its faculty. In Principle and Practice, Penn’s strategic framework, highlights interdisciplinary excellence and faculty support as central to Penn’s mission.

Endowed professorships accelerate Penn’s ability to address the great challenges of our time—spanning climate, health, data science, and democracy—while ensuring that students learn from the most distinguished scholars in their fields.

Philanthropy that supports and grows Penn’s endowed faculty positions enables the University to attract and retain the very best—thought leaders who not only advance research and innovation but also drive real-world impact. These scholars contribute to Penn’s vibrant intellectual community, mentor the next generation of leaders, and help shape the future of knowledge across disciplines.

The following endowed faculty positions are available funding opportunities for every School and Center.

Penn Integrates Knowledge (PIK) University Professorships

Penn fosters innovation through the recruitment of faculty who cross disciplinary boundaries to expand the world’s knowledge in new and unanticipated ways. PIK Professors hold appointments in two or more schools at Penn, and draw on their breadth of knowledge to collaborate with colleagues on boundary-breaking research.

Endowed Professorships

An Endowed Professorship is a notable honor in academia. This recognition universally validates the work of accomplished teachers, mentors, scholars, and thought leaders. It provides assured financial support that moves their research forward, enhances their ability to secure additional funding, and extends their influence beyond campus.
