Community, Tradition, and Cheers at the 2025 Homecoming Brunch

The Benjamin Franklin Society gathers to celebrate philanthropy and Penn pride

On Saturday, November 8, 2025, more than 270 members of the Benjamin Franklin Society (BFS) and guests gathered in Houston Hall to enjoy the traditional BFS Homecoming Brunch.

Founded in 1955, the Benjamin Franklin Society honors donors who contribute $2,500 or more to annual giving at Penn’s schools and centers during each fiscal year. This festive fall tradition brought together generations of alumni, family, and friends for a morning filled with conversation, connection, and plenty of Penn pride.

Kate Griffo, Vice President of Development and Alumni Relations, welcomed attendees with heartfelt thanks, saying, “Your collective impact has helped Penn adapt and thrive during a time of tremendous change. We are so grateful.”

She then introduced Michael Barrett, ENG’89, PAR’20, PAR’21, Penn Alumni President and University Trustee, who reflected on the importance of BFS support. “Gifts from members like you have expanded access to Penn, promoted discovery and innovation, and helped develop tomorrow’s leaders.”

No BFS Brunch would be complete without a shared celebration of Quaker spirit, and the Penn Band and Penn Cheer delivered just that, leading the crowd in a few songs before everyone headed out to Franklin Field to root for Penn as they faced off against Cornell in the Homecoming game.
