Wharton Fund Grows Annual Giving

Benjamin Franklin Society

As part of the Wharton School’s More Than Ever Campaign, twenty-three leadership donors joined together to issue a challenge for Fiscal Year 2018-2019: if 1,881 donors joined or renewed their membership in the Benjamin Franklin Society by making a gift to The Wharton Fund of $2,500 ($1,000 for recent graduates) by June 30, 2019, they would unlock a combined gift of $1,000,000.

The $1M Challenge’s goal of 1,881 BFS gifts was chosen to recognize the founding year of the Wharton School, the world’s first collegiate school of business. Wharton alumni, parents and friends rose to the challenge, meeting and surpassing their goal with a final total of 1,899 donors collectively raising over $15 million. The Wharton Fund can now boast an increase of more than 200 BFS donors over the previous fiscal year.

By making leadership annual gifts, Benjamin Franklin Society donors have an outsized impact on the quality of Wharton education. BFS gifts make up more than 85% of total Wharton Fund giving, and allow the School to continue to enrich academics, research and partnerships, as well as develop experiential learning opportunities such as Global Modular Courses and Global Immersion Programs.

Although the $1M Challenge has concluded, the important work of the More Than Ever Campaign continues, and you have the opportunity to join the community of Wharton Benjamin Franklin Society members by making a gift to The Wharton Fund.
